Mystery of the Lost Photo

Yesterday I was dropping off our recyclables at the local Kroger grocery, and as I tossed in my old newspapers and magazines, something caught my eye.

On the asphalt next to the collection container was this old photograph.A lovely portrait from someone's wedding day.

It is in near perfect condition. It is an original photographic print, not something from an inkjet printer. It has been trimmed to 1.5 x 3" and has "43" stamped on the back (a photographer's proof number most likely).

It is a mystery to me who this is and why someone would throw it away. Maybe it was an accident. After all, I almost threw away an expensive set of scissors with the newspapers because someone had been clipping coupons and they had gotten gathered up in the pile.

The bride looks in her mid to late 20s, and the style of dress (not that I am a fashion expert) looks like something from the 40s. If I am correct, that would put the bride in her 80s today, assuming she is still alive.

Who do you suppose this is, and why was the photo discarded?

I am open to any theories, conjectures or hard facts anyone may have to offer.
