More Sketchbook Pages

Here are the next few pages of my sketchbook for the Art House Co-op Sketchbook Project. The theme for my book is "Fill Me With Stories".

I hope to expand these ideas and publish them eventually. Meanwhile, enjoy.

The Sketchbook Project

A couple of months ago, I joined the 2012 Sketchbook Project through the Art House Co-Op out of Brooklyn.

You order a blank 32-page 5x7 sketchbook, choose a theme, then fill it up and mail it back. It then goes into their library where people come to visit and peruse the art. Eventually, many of these sketchbooks will go on a nationwide tour. The 2011 tour is underway right now.

This is the cover of my book:
As you guessed, the theme I chose from their list was "Fill Me WIth Stories". I'll post the rest of the book here, too.
meanwhile, if you like, check out some of the other books uploaded to their digital library (warning: some content posted there is not family friendly, but most is just fine). And of course, I encourage you to order your own book to fill.

Oh... and this is the back cover...

More Mailable Art

Been creating postcards for my daughter while she's away at the Governor's School of the Arts and doodling on envelopes. Enjoy.

The Ring-tail Lemur is marker, acrylic & colored pencil (by the way, that's the front & back, so you can see how the tail wrapped around). The Tiger is acrylic & sharpie. The cowboy is marker w/ colored pencil highlights. All images ©2011 Tim Hodge

Oil Painting

Recently, I borrowed some painting supplies from my sister. I have wanted to try out oils for a long time, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on a set and find out I didn't like it.

So yesterday I spent a couple of hours playing around, getting the feel of the paints and scribbling on scraps of 4x6" cardboard. I did this sketch in about 15 minutes. Looking forward to trying larger works!

Since this is a postcard-sized piece of cardboard, I might stick a stamp on the other side and mail it to my sis as a thank you.
